About the artist
THE SCOTTS is a collaborative project uniting rappers Travis Scott and Kid Cudi, two of the most influential voices in modern hip-hop and its psychedelic, melodic strains. The duo's name plays on both artists' identities: it comes from the second half of Travis Scott's stage name and from Kid Cudi's real surname, Scott Mescudi, underlining a long-standing creative and personal bond between the two.
Before formally debuting as THE SCOTTS in April 2020 with their self-titled single, Travis and Cudi had already collaborated repeatedly, appearing on each other's tracks, reflecting Travis's frequently stated admiration for Cudi as one of his key influences. Their combined sound merges Travis Scott's atmospheric, bass-heavy trap production with Cudi's melodic, introspective vocal style, a pairing that resonated widely with fans of both artists.
The THE SCOTTS single and its accompanying video quickly became a major moment in hip-hop, fuelling anticipation for further joint output from two artists whose individual catalogs have each reshaped contemporary rap aesthetics. The project stands as a notable example of hip-hop's collaborative supergroup trend.
