Tha Dogg Pound

Tha Dogg Pound is a West Coast gangsta rap duo formed in 1992 by rapper Kurupt and rapper-producer Daz Dillinger, brought together through Daz's cousin Snoop Dogg. The pair became key members of the Death Row Records roster during its most dominant era, contributing verses and production to landmark albums including Dr. Dre's «The Chronic» and Snoop Dogg's «Doggystyle», helping define the smoothed-out G-funk sound that ruled West Coast rap in the early-to-mid 1990s.

Their own debut, «Dogg Food» (1995), went double platinum and hit number one on the Billboard 200, powered by singles like «Let's Play House» and «New York, New York». It stands as one of the defining records of the Death Row era, capturing the label's signature blend of funk-driven beats and hardcore lyricism. The duo also appeared on 2Pac's «All Eyez On Me» on the track «Got My Mind Made Up».

After Death Row's collapse in the mid-1990s, Kurupt and Daz continued as Tha Dogg Pound independently, releasing further projects while also building substantial solo careers. Decades later, following Snoop Dogg's acquisition of the Death Row name in 2022, the group returned to the label and released the album «W.A.W.G. (We All We Got)» in 2024, bringing their story full circle.
