Tanya Tucker

Tanya Tucker is an American country singer born October 10, 1958, in Seminole, Texas. She burst onto the country scene as a teenager with «Delta Dawn» in 1972, immediately establishing a mature, husky voice far beyond her years and becoming one of the youngest artists to top the country charts. Throughout the 1970s she built a run of hits including «What’s Your Mama’s Name, Child», «The Jamestown Ferry» and «Would You Lay with Me (In a Field of Stone)», helping define the more rebellious, rock-tinged edge of 1970s country.

Her career continued through the 1980s and 1990s with hits like «Two Sparrows in a Hurricane», earning her Female Vocalist of the Year from the Country Music Association in 1991 and a Video of the Year award for «Two Sparrows in a Hurricane». She was also part of the celebrated Common Thread: The Songs of The Eagles tribute project.

After years away from recording, Tucker returned with the acclaimed album While I’m Livin’ in 2019, co-produced by Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings, which included the poignant «Bring My Flowers Now» and earned her renewed critical recognition and Grammy attention. Known for her distinctive, gritty voice and unflinching persona, Tucker remains one of country music’s most enduring and influential female artists, admired for her early rise to stardom and long-running, resilient career.
