About the artist
Taco Hemingway is the stage name of Filip Szczesniak, a Polish rapper, songwriter and one of the most influential figures in contemporary Polish hip-hop. Rising to prominence in the early 2010s, he built a reputation for literate, observational lyricism, blending conversational storytelling with sharp social and political commentary about urban life in Warsaw and the broader condition of his generation.
His breakthrough concept EP Trojkat warszawski told a narrative-driven story and drew wide critical acclaim, establishing his signature style of smooth, jazz- and R&B-tinged production paired with dense, introspective verses. He continued to evolve across a string of releases, moving between more melodic, radio-friendly songs and darker, more experimental material, always retaining his distinctively wry, self-aware delivery.
Over the years Taco Hemingway has been recognized with multiple Fryderyk awards, Poland's top music honor, and is widely regarded as one of the defining voices of Polish rap in the 2010s and 2020s, known for tracks like «Polskie tango» and «Nastepna stacja» that capture contemporary Polish urban experience with wit and precision.
