T-Pain

T-Pain, born Faheem Najm, is an American rapper, singer and producer from Tallahassee, Florida — his stage name is a nod to the hardship of growing up there. He first gained attention as part of the group Nappy Headz before launching a hugely successful solo career in the mid-2000s. He is widely credited as one of the artists most responsible for popularizing the heavy use of Auto-Tune as a stylistic vocal effect in mainstream hip-hop and R&B, a sound that came to define much of the era's radio output.

His catalog blends rap, R&B, pop and party-oriented production, built around melodic hooks and his signature processed vocals. Songs such as «Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin’)», «Bartender», «I’m N Luv (Wit a Stripper)» and «Up Down (Do This All Day)» became staples of mid-to-late 2000s urban radio and helped push Auto-Tune from a subtle correction tool into a genre-defining aesthetic choice, later echoed by artists across hip-hop and pop.

Beyond his own singles, T-Pain became one of the most in-demand hook and feature artists of his generation, appearing on tracks across the rap landscape. In 2019 he won the first season of the American version of The Masked Singer, performing as The Monster, which introduced him to a new, broader audience.
