Smokepurpp is an American rapper and producer from Miami-Dade County, Florida, who emerged in the mid-2010s as one of the defining voices of the SoundCloud rap movement. Born Omar Jeffery Pineiro, he began posting music online around 2015 and quickly built a following through raw, high-energy trap tracks built on aggressive ad-libs, sparse hi-hat-heavy beats, and confrontational lyricism about street life and excess.

His breakthrough came with the single «Audi», which spread rapidly through the SoundCloud scene and established his signature sound alongside close collaborator Lil Pump. That momentum carried into his debut mixtape Deadstar, which featured guests such as Travis Scott, Juicy J, and Yo Gotti and charted on the Billboard 200. He followed with the collaborative project Bless Yo Trap alongside producer Murda Beatz, further cementing his place in the Miami rap scene alongside artists like XXXTENTACION.

Smokepurpp's sound sits at the harder, more nihilistic end of SoundCloud rap, prioritizing mood and adrenaline over technical wordplay. He continued releasing music through the following years, including the Lost Planet mixtape series and a long-awaited debut studio album, remaining a recognizable figure in the late-2010s wave of internet-born trap artists.
