Slaughterhouse

Slaughterhouse was an American hip-hop supergroup formed in 2008, bringing together four established solo lyricists: Joe Budden, Royce da 5'9, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I (later known as KXNG Crooked). The project grew out of a posse cut Budden assembled for his album Halfway House, and the chemistry between the four MCs convinced them to formalize the group. Their self-titled debut arrived in 2009 on an independent label, showcasing dense, technically demanding wordplay that made the group a favorite among fans who prized lyricism over commercial polish.

In 2011 Slaughterhouse signed to Eminem's Shady Records alongside Yelawolf, and released their major-label album Welcome to: Our House in 2012, which leaned into a more radio-friendly sound while still spotlighting the group's rapping chops. A long-teased third album, Glass House, never materialized amid growing friction, and the group quietly disbanded in 2018. Despite the abbreviated major-label run, Slaughterhouse is remembered as one of the defining lyrical supergroups of its era, and each member continued a notable solo career afterward.
