Sinik

Sinik, born Thomas Idir on June 26, 1980, in Paris, is a French rapper of Algerian and Kabyle descent through his father. He began his career in 1996 as part of the group L'Amalgame, formed with fellow rappers Fik's, Niavo, Grödash and Djorka Fella, cutting his teeth in the collaborative, crew-based culture of French hip-hop in the late 1990s.

Over more than two decades, Sinik established himself as one of the enduring figures of French rap, releasing seven solo studio albums. His style is marked by dense, technically sharp wordplay and a willingness to tackle both personal reflection and pointed social commentary, as heard on tracks like «Les 16 vérités» and «Une époque formidable».

He has also been known for his combative freestyles and battle appearances, including his memorable «Clash Planète Rap» session, which showcased his lyrical aggression and technical skill on the mic. Songs such as «Je réalise», «Pinocchio» and «Cœur de pierre» reflect the more introspective and narrative side of his catalogue, cementing his reputation as a versatile MC within the French rap landscape.
