About the artist
SICKBOYRARI, also known as Black Kray, is an American rapper, producer and director born in 1994 and raised in Ashland, Virginia, a place he nicknames the Dirt Road. He began rapping in 2010, drawing heavily on the freewheeling, internet-native style of Lil B, and by 2012 had connected online with the artists who would become Goth Money, the collective he co-founded and fronted.
SICKBOYRARI is regarded as a founding figure of cloud rap and its darker offshoot, tread, genres defined by hazy, reverb-soaked production and a vocal delivery that is often slurred to the point of near-unintelligibility, occasionally drifting into a woozy, sing-song cadence. That approach, unusual and divisive when it first surfaced, became hugely influential on later waves of underground and SoundCloud rap.
His catalogue includes tracks like «PRINCESS CUTS MAH WRIST», «HOOD ANGELS» and «Iced out Castles», and he has worked alongside Lil Yachty, SpaceGhostPurrp, CHXPO, Working on Dying and Big Baby, cementing his reputation as one of the more idiosyncratic and cult-followed voices to emerge from internet rap culture.
