Shy Glizzy

Shy Glizzy, born Marquis King and also known as Young Jefe, is a rapper from Southeast Washington, D.C. He emerged in the early 2010s as one of the key figures putting the D.C. rap scene on the national map, blending melodic hooks with a raw, street-level delivery rooted in the city's go-go-influenced hip-hop culture.

His breakout mixtapes, including the Law and Young Jefe series released between 2012 and 2020, established him as a prolific and consistent voice in the genre. Tracks like «Awwsome» and «White Girl» became underground anthems, while «Do You Understand?» later achieved gold certification, cementing his commercial staying power years after its original release.

Beyond his solo work, Shy Glizzy is known for founding Glizzy Gang, a collective through which he has mentored and collaborated with local D.C. artists such as 3 Glizzy and the late 30 Glizzy. His feature on the platinum single «Crew» further extended his reach beyond the DMV region, and his catalog remains a touchstone for East Coast trap and mixtape-era hip-hop.
