Seán Dagher

Seán Dagher is a Canadian performer, arranger and composer whose work draws on a wide range of folk and early music traditions, including Medieval, Baroque, Arabic, Celtic and Quebecois repertoire, as well as the seafaring songs of the Maritimes. A multi-instrumentalist, he sings and plays Irish bouzouki, mandolin, oud and banjo, and is a founding member of the ensemble Skye Consort.

He is especially well known to a broad audience for his singing on Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed video game series, where sea shanties and period songs became a memorable part of the games' soundscape, and for his own Shanty of the Week video series that introduced traditional maritime songs like «Leave Her, Johnny», «Randy Dandy Oh», «Drunken Sailor» and «Roll, Boys, Roll!» to new listeners.

As Artistic Co-director of the Montreal-based ensemble La Nef, Dagher has composed and directed numerous productions for both young and general audiences, including La Traverse miraculeuse, Trobaïritz, Dowland in Dublin, The People's Purcell, The American Art Song and Sea Songs & Shanties, the latter touring in Canada, the United States and France. His arrangements have been performed by ensembles and artists across Europe and North America, and his work has received several awards over the years.
