Scrim

Scrim is the primary alias of Scott Arceneaux Jr., a New Orleans-based rapper and producer, best known as one half of the duo $UICIDEBOY$ alongside his cousin Ruby Da Cherry. Before that group's formation, Arceneaux had already spent years building a name for himself, first as a producer under the tag «adudenamedscrim» as early as 2009, and later as a solo artist releasing a string of independent mixtapes.

His early catalog includes releases like Narcotics Anonymous, #DrugFlow, #DrugFlow 2, Patron Saint of Everything Totally Fucked, Full Plates, and Nightmare on Rising Sun Street, projects that laid the groundwork for the dark, lo-fi, horrorcore-tinged sound that would later define $UICIDEBOY$'s music. The Scrim persona blends trap production with grim, confessional lyricism touching on addiction, mental health, and mortality.

Even after $UICIDEBOY$ became his primary creative outlet, Arceneaux revived the Scrim name for the 2020 project A Man Rose from the Dead, showing the alias remains a distinct artistic identity within his broader body of work. Songs like «Nightmare on the Northside» and «paradise» reflect the raw, genre-blending approach across rap, rock, and pop-punk influences that has become a signature of his output.
