Schokk

Schokk, born Dmitri Hinter in Kazakhstan, is a Russian-German rapper who built his name in the battle-rap scene before broadening into more personal and political songwriting. He first drew attention with the 2007 mixtape «DISScography», delivered in both Russian and German, notable for an aggressive, confrontational style unusual for the genre at the time. His collaborations with fellow Russian-speaking emigrants in Germany, including through crews like Optik Russia and Rap Woyska, placed him at the center of the diaspora hip-hop scene.

His partnership with Oxxxymiron led to the founding of the label Vagabund, one of the most talked-about ventures in Russian-language rap, culminating in his 2011 debut album «С большой дороги», which tackled politics, emigrant life in Berlin, and social decay. After internal conflicts within the label, Schokk took a step back before returning with the mixtape «Input-Output», reflecting a more introspective phase in his career.

Stylistically, Schokk moves across rap, rock, pop and country influences, giving his catalogue a genre-crossing, often experimental edge. Tracks like «Vasco da Gama», «Голод» and «То густо, то пусто» showcase his sharp, combative lyricism paired with unconventional production choices, cementing his reputation as one of the more distinctive and unpredictable voices to emerge from the Russian-German rap underground.
