Scarlxrd

Scarlxrd, born Marius Lucas-Antonio Listhrop in Wolverhampton, England, is a British rapper, audio engineer, and clothing designer known for fusing aggressive rap vocals with metal and rock instrumentation. Before adopting the Scarlxrd name, he was active on YouTube as Mazzi Maz, gaining attention through collaborations with fellow creator Sam Pepper, but deleted that body of work to reinvent himself and began rapping in 2014.

He debuted the Scarlxrd persona in August 2016 with the single «Girlfriend» and quickly established a prolific release schedule across 2016 and 2017. His April 2017 single «Heart Attack» became a defining breakthrough, showcasing the intense, distorted rap-rock hybrid sound that would come to define his catalogue, alongside tracks like «6 Feet», «Chain$aw», and «BERZERK». He was previously the vocalist and founder of the now-defunct rap-rock band Myth City.

Scarlxrd's visual identity is closely tied to a mask inspired by the manga Tokyo Ghoul, worn to separate his artistic persona from his earlier YouTube career; he has moved between wearing it more and less often across different eras of his output. His stylistic signature of replacing letter O's with X's, as in «a BRAINDEAD civilisatixn» and «Lies Yxu Tell», reinforces the harsh, dystopian aesthetic that runs through his music and branding.
