Scarface

Scarface, born Brad Terrence Jordan, is a rapper and producer from the South Acres neighborhood of Houston, Texas, widely regarded as one of the most influential voices in Southern hip-hop. He first gained prominence as a member of the Geto Boys on Rap-A-Lot Records, contributing to the group's landmark 1989 album Grip It! On That Other Level and their 1991 breakthrough single «Mind Playing Tricks On Me», which helped establish Houston as a serious force in rap.

That same year, Scarface launched a parallel solo career with Mr. Scarface is Back, the first of a run of acclaimed albums including The Diary, The Untouchable, My Homies, and The Fix, the latter earning a rare perfect rating from The Source magazine. His style is marked by dense, introspective storytelling, dealing with violence, mortality, and mental health with a gravity that set him apart from more flamboyant rap contemporaries.

Beyond performing, Scarface shaped the industry as president of Def Jam South, where he signed a young Ludacris. He was named Lyricist of the Year at The Source Awards in 2001 and later received the I Am Hip Hop lifetime achievement award at the BET Hip Hop Awards. He has also written a memoir, Diary of a Madman, and co-hosts the Geto Boys: Reloaded podcast with fellow Geto Boys member Willie D.
