Saweetie

Saweetie, born Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper on 2 July 1993, is an American rapper and songwriter from Hayward, California, who was largely raised in the Bay Area before finishing high school in Sacramento. Raised on 2Pac, Biggie, and Lil' Kim, she began performing in high school and later studied communications and business at the University of Southern California, developing her rap persona while still a student.

Her breakthrough came in 2017 when a self-recorded freestyle, «ICY GRL», went viral on Instagram; the studio version went on to accumulate well over a hundred million streams and earned a Gold certification. That momentum led to a deal with Warner Bros. Records and her 2018 debut EP, «High Maintenance», which established her brash, hook-heavy West Coast flow alongside glossy, radio-ready production.

Saweetie's sound sits at the intersection of confident, punchline-driven rap and mainstream pop and R&B crossover appeal, evident on hits like «My Type» and «Best Friend» with Doja Cat.
