Samy Deluxe

Samy Deluxe, born Samy Sorge in Hamburg, is one of the most influential figures in German-language hip-hop, active since the mid-1990s. He first rose to prominence as part of the duo Dynamite Deluxe and the wider Hamburg rap scene before establishing himself as a major solo artist with a string of acclaimed albums and singles.

Known for his rapid, technically dense flow and playful, multilingual wordplay, Samy Deluxe has also performed under alternate monikers such as Samsemilia, and he later publicly distanced himself from an earlier persona associated with his mixtape «Der Letzte Tanz». His catalog spans introspective, socially conscious material as well as party-oriented tracks, with songs like «Weck mich auf», «Eines Tages» and «Ego» reflecting the range of his songwriting.

Over a career spanning decades, he has been widely credited with helping legitimize German-language rap as a serious artistic form, influencing a generation of rappers who followed.
