Saba

Saba, born Tahj Malik Chandler on July 17, 1994, is an American rapper and producer from the Austin neighborhood on Chicago's West Side. Raised in a musical family, he began playing piano before turning ten and was performing live and distributing mixtapes well before adulthood. He is a member of the Chicago collective Pivot Gang and a multi-instrumentalist who often handles his own production alongside rapping.

His style stands apart from the drill sound long associated with Chicago, favoring jazzy, introspective instrumentation paired with vivid, emotionally honest storytelling. He first drew wider attention with his guest verse on Chance the Rapper's «Everybody's Something» from the acclaimed 2013 mixtape Acid Rap, and became a frequent collaborator of Noname, appearing on multiple tracks from her debut project Telefone, which he also helped produce.

Saba released his debut studio album, Bucket List Project, in 2016, establishing his voice within a generation of Chicago artists — including Chance the Rapper and Mick Jenkins — who pushed the city's hip-hop toward more melodic, socially conscious territory. Songs like «PROM / KING», «LOGOUT», and «CALLIGRAPHY» reflect his ongoing exploration of grief, identity, and resilience, cementing his reputation as one of contemporary rap's most thoughtful lyricists.
