Rowdy Rebel

Rowdy Rebel, born Chad Marshall in 1991, is an American rapper from East Flatbush, Brooklyn, and a core member of the GS9 crew alongside his close friend Bobby Shmurda. His nickname came from childhood, when neighbors called him rowdy, and he began experimenting with rap around age five before taking it seriously in his early teens.

He rose to national attention in 2014 as Bobby Shmurda's single «Hot Nigga» became a viral hit, climbing to number six on the Billboard Hot 100. Riding that momentum, Rowdy signed with Epic Records shortly after Shmurda and released his own breakout single «Computers», which also featured Shmurda. His energetic ad-libs and gritty, Brooklyn-rooted delivery made him a recognizable voice within the era's drill and street-rap scene.

In December 2014, Marshall was arrested along with Shmurda and over a dozen other GS9 associates on charges including conspiracy, attempted murder and weapons possession, which halted his rising career. He later pleaded guilty and served several years in prison. Since his release, he has continued to record music, remaining a notable figure tied to the Brooklyn GS9 story and the «Shmoney Dance» cultural moment.
