Roméo Elvis

Roméo Elvis, born Roméo Johnny Elvis Kiki Van Laeken on December 13, 1992 in Uccle, is a Belgian rapper from Brussels. He grew up in Linkebeek, a town he frequently references in his lyrics, and comes from a family of artists — his mother is actress Laurence Bibot, his father is singer Marka, and his sister is singer Angèle. He discovered rap while studying photojournalism and grew close to the Brussels collective L'Or du Commun.

He released his first EP, «Bruxelles c'est devenu la jungle», in 2013 with L'Or du Commun as the only featured guests, followed by «Famille nombreuse» the next year. He then formed a duo with Belgian producer Le Motel, releasing «Morale» in 2016, which built his reputation both in Belgium and in France. His debut solo studio album, «Chocolat», came out in April 2019, a diverse 20-track project featuring producers such as Vladimir Cauchemar, Dee Eye, Vynk, Seezy and Todiefor.

Roméo Elvis is known for witty, conversational wordplay, a laid-back delivery and beats that draw on French and Belgian rap traditions while incorporating pop and electronic textures. Songs like «Bruxelles arrive», «J'ai vu» and «Drôle de question» showcase his knack for blending humor with social observation, making him one of the leading figures of the Francophone Belgian rap scene.
