REASON

REASON, born Robert Lee Gill Jr., is a rapper from Carson, California, associated with the Del Amo neighborhood. He began releasing music independently through SoundCloud, putting out a series of mixtapes including In The Meantime, The Free Album, The Proof, and There You Have It before catching wider attention.

His breakthrough came with a standout guest verse on «Seasons», a track from the Black Panther soundtrack curated by Kendrick Lamar and Anthony «Top Dawg» Tiffith. That appearance led to his signing with Top Dawg Entertainment in 2018, announced alongside the single «The Soul». He also opened for Jay Rock on The Big Redemption Tour around the same period.

Shortly after joining TDE, REASON released There You Have It as his official label debut, a re-recorded version of his earlier mixtape of the same name. His music blends rap with pop and R&B textures, and songs like «Extinct», «Flick It Up», and «Better Dayz» showcase his melodic, introspective approach within the West Coast rap scene.
