Rapsody

Rapsody, born Marlanna Evans, is an American rapper from Snow Hill, North Carolina, who first developed her craft as part of the group Kooley High before launching a solo career under producer 9th Wonder's Jamla Records. Known for dense, literate lyricism and a commitment to substance over spectacle — often summed up in her own phrase «culture over everything» — she has built a reputation as one of hip-hop's most respected technicians.

Her sound blends soulful, sample-driven boom-bap production with sharp storytelling and social commentary, drawing comparisons to golden-era rap while staying firmly contemporary. She has collaborated with artists including Kendrick Lamar, Common, Jay Electronica, Mac Miller and Chance the Rapper, and in 2016 signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation alongside her continued work with Jamla.

Her breakthrough full-length, «Laila's Wisdom» (2017), earned Grammy nominations for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song, cementing her place among the most acclaimed lyricists of her generation and one of the artists most frequently cited on lists of the greatest female rappers in hip-hop history.
