R.A. The Rugged Man

R.A. the Rugged Man is an American rapper and producer from Long Island, New York, known for his dense, technically intricate rhyme schemes and uncompromising, often confrontational lyrical style. He began performing as a child and signed to Jive Records as a teenager, though his major-label debut was famously shelved, pushing him toward a long career largely built through the underground and independent hip-hop scenes.

Over the following decades he built a reputation as a rapper's rapper, collaborating with figures such as Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang Clan, Kool G Rap, and The Notorious B.I.G., and working with producers including Erick Sermon, Trackmasters, The Alchemist, and Ayatollah.
