Psy 4 de la Rime

Psy 4 de la Rime is a French hip-hop group from Marseille, formed around a core of childhood friends and cousins with roots in the Comoros islands, alongside a DJ of Moroccan descent. The group became one of the defining acts of the Marseille rap scene in the 2000s, known for lyrics steeped in stories of the city's neighborhoods, everyday struggle and Mediterranean identity, delivered over soulful, melodic beats blending rap with R&B and pop textures.

Several of the group's members went on to major solo careers in French rap, most notably Soprano and Alonzo, who became two of the most successful French-language rappers of their generation, alongside Vincenzo. Their collective work, including tracks like «Le son des bandits» and «Le retour des blocks», helped establish a distinctly Marseille sound within French hip-hop, marked by warmth, storytelling and Mediterranean musical influences.

Even as its members pursued individual projects, Psy 4 de la Rime remains a touchstone group for French rap, credited with putting Marseille firmly on the map of the genre and influencing a generation of artists from the south of France.
