Princess Nokia

Princess Nokia, born Destiny Nicole Frasqueri on June 14, 1992, is an Afro-Puerto Rican rapper, singer, and songwriter from New York City. Raised largely in Harlem and the Lower East Side, she draws on her Puerto Rican and Yoruba heritage, queer identity, and DIY punk roots to craft a sound that fuses hip hop, R&B, and electronic textures with a defiantly independent spirit. Before adopting her current name she recorded as Wavy Spice and Destiny, developing the eclectic, genre-fluid approach that still defines her work.

She broke through with the 2016 mixtape «1992», home to standout tracks like «Tomboy», «Brujas», and «Bart Simpson», which announced her as a fiercely self-possessed voice in New York's underground rap scene. Her lyrics blend street-smart bravado with references to Afro-Caribbean spirituality, feminism, and mental health, delivered in a conversational, unpolished flow that prizes authenticity over studio gloss.
