Pharoahe Monch

Pharoahe Monch, born Troy Jamerson, is an American rapper from Queens, New York, widely regarded as one of hip-hop's most technically gifted lyricists. He first rose to prominence in the early 1990s as one half of Organized Konfusion alongside Prince Poetry, releasing a trio of critically acclaimed albums that pushed the boundaries of dense, multisyllabic rhyme schemes and conceptual storytelling, culminating in the classic «Stress: The Extinction Agenda».

After the group's split, Monch launched a solo career defined by intricate wordplay, jazz- and soul-inflected boom-bap production, and pointed political commentary. His 1999 single «Simon Says» became an unlikely crossover hit, sampling Godzilla dialogue and earning heavy rotation despite its underground pedigree.
