Oxmo Puccino

Oxmo Puccino, born Abdoulaye Diarra in Mali and raised in Paris's 19th arrondissement, is one of French rap's most distinctive and respected voices. He emerged in the 1990s as part of the Time Bomb collective, alongside artists such as Booba and Ali of Lunatic, contributing to a scene celebrated for inventive flows and dense wordplay, notably through freestyle sessions on the radio show Original Bombattak. His verse on «Pucc' Fiction», a collaboration with Booba, became an underground classic and remains one of the most cited tracks in French rap history.

Oxmo built his reputation as a poetic, introspective lyricist, often described as a griot of modern rap for his storytelling ability and metaphor-rich style, drawing comparisons to jazz and chanson traditions rather than pure street rap. Tracks like «L'enfant seul» showcase his reflective, sometimes melancholic songwriting, balancing personal narrative with broader social commentary.
