O.T. Genasis

O.T. Genasis, born Odis Flores, is an American rapper of Belizean descent who grew up in Long Beach, California. He entered the industry as a member of G-Unit Records, signing with 50 Cent's label in 2011 and releasing his debut mixtape «Black Belt» in 2012 before eventually parting ways with the imprint. His breakthrough came through persistence rather than a single deal: after performing his song «Touchdown» four times in a row at a show, he caught the attention of Busta Rhymes, which led to a deal with Busta's Conglomerate Records and a star-studded remix featuring Busta Rhymes, French Montana and Juicy J.

Despite that early exposure, mainstream success didn't arrive until October 2014, when he released «CoCo», a hypnotic, hook-driven trap single about the drug trade that became a viral sensation, remixed by Lil Wayne and namechecked by Nicki Minaj. The song established his signature style: minimal, chant-like hooks, blunt street narratives, and an ear for a beat that repeats until it burrows into memory — a formula he'd revisit on later hits like «Cut It» and «Push It».

He followed «CoCo» with the mixtape «Rhythm & Bricks» in September 2015, cementing a run of singles built around the same maximal-hook, minimal-verse approach that made him one of the more recognizable hitmakers of the mid-2010s trap era.
