About the artist
OrelSan, born Aurélien Cotentin, is a French rapper, actor and filmmaker who grew up in Alençon before moving to Caen, where he built the foundation of his career. He first attracted attention through Myspace with tracks like «Sale pute», before signing with Skread's label and releasing his debut album Perdu d'avance in 2009, which won him early industry recognition including a Victoire de la Musique.
OrelSan is known for sharp, often dark and self-deprecating storytelling, blending humor with vulnerability across themes of failure, social alienation and everyday French life. His work with production partner Skread gave his music a distinctive, cinematic sound, and songs like «Suicide social» and «La pluie» showcased his ability to move between biting satire and genuine emotional weight. He is also one half of the duo Casseurs Flowters alongside fellow rapper Gringe.
Over the course of albums like Le chant des sirènes, La fête est finie and Civilisation, OrelSan has become one of the most critically and commercially significant voices in French rap, expanding beyond music into acting and directing while retaining the confessional, narrative-driven style that first defined him.
