Oliver Anthony Music

Oliver Anthony, born Christopher Anthony Lunsford, is an American singer-songwriter based near Farmville, Virginia. A largely self-taught guitarist with a distinctive gravelly voice, he began writing and recording music blending country and folk around 2021, initially performing for small audiences before a chance connection with the West Virginia music channel Radiowv changed his trajectory.

He became a viral sensation in August 2023 with «Rich Men North of Richmond», a raw, plainly recorded protest song about working-class struggle that resonated across the political spectrum despite becoming a lightning rod for commentary. The song's success was reportedly tied to a period of personal transformation, including getting sober shortly before his breakout. He has since released additional material such as «Scornful Woman», «I Want to Go Home», «I've Got to Get Sober», «Ain't Gotta Dollar», «90 Some Chevy», «Rich Man's Gold» and «Virginia».

Despite being embraced by figures in the conservative movement, Anthony has resisted easy political categorization, notably criticizing the use of his song at a Republican presidential debate and distancing himself from partisan branding. His music remains rooted in an unpolished, working-class authenticity that predates and outlasts the viral moment that made him famous.
