nothing,nowhere. is the stage name of Joe Mulherin, an American singer-songwriter, rapper and producer born in 1992 and raised in Foxborough, Massachusetts, later based in Vermont. He came up through the emo and hardcore scenes of his youth before developing a solo project that fuses trap-influenced production and rap cadences with emo and post-hardcore melodicism, becoming one of the defining voices of the «sadboy» or emo-rap crossover movement of the mid-to-late 2010s. His stage name is drawn from the philosophy of Alan Watts.

His early mixtapes and the 2015 self-titled project established a raw, DIY blend of confessional lyrics and lo-fi beats, and he built a dedicated following largely outside traditional label systems. The 2017 album «Reaper» and 2018's «ruiner» — the latter featuring heavier rock instrumentation and guest spots reflecting his hardcore roots — expanded his sound and audience, cementing his reputation as an artist bridging hip-hop and rock communities.

His 2021 album «Trauma Factory» pushed further into blended genre territory, addressing anxiety, addiction and personal struggle with unusual candor. Beyond his solo catalog, nothing,nowhere. has released collaborative EPs, including one with the producer duo behind «BLOODLUST», and has become known for prolific output and a hands-on, independent approach to his career, frequently producing and mixing his own material.
