Nitro

Nitro, born Nicola Albera in 1993 in Dolo, near Venice, and raised in Camisano Vicentino, is an Italian rapper who began writing rap at 13 and debuted in 2010 with the mixtape Born 2 Burn alongside Moova and producer CeCe Dub. He gained wider recognition after strong showings on the MTV freestyle program Spit, and in 2012 joined the influential Machete collective, quickly becoming one of its most prominent members.

His style is marked by dark, theatrical imagery and a fascination with horror and alter-ego characters, most notably Wilson and Phil De Payne, personas he developed across his catalog. He signed with Sony for his debut album Danger in 2013, followed by Suicidol, and contributed to the Machete Mixtape series that helped define a harder, more aggressive strand of Italian rap in the 2010s.

Nitro's music blends rap with rock and horror-punk aesthetics, giving his work a distinct, gothic identity within the Italian scene. Tracks like «Rotten», «Baba Jaga» and «Horror Vacui» reflect this recurring interest in horror-tinged storytelling, while his connection to the Machete collective placed him alongside key figures shaping underground and mainstream Italian hip-hop.
