Nines

Nines, born Courtney Freckleton on January 17, 1990, is a British rapper from the Church Road estate in Church End, Harlesden, in North-West London. He first gained attention with his 2011 mixtape From Church Road to Hollywood, promoted through Link Up TV, which established his reputation as one of the most promising voices coming out of the UK street rap and grime-adjacent scene. His subsequent relationship with Jamal Edwards SBTV further raised his profile.

His career was interrupted in 2013 when he was sentenced to prison on a drugs-related charge; his mixtape Gone Till November, named for the length of his sentence, reflected that period. Following his release, he returned with Loyal to the Soil, which included «Money On My Mind», one of his most widely known tracks and a signature example of his laid-back, narrative-driven flow over understated, often piano-and-strings-laced production.

Nines is closely associated with the Church Road Soldiers, Crime Scene Boyz and Ice City Boyz collectives, alongside artists such as Skrapz and Fundz. His music is built on vivid, autobiographical storytelling about street life, ambition and loyalty, delivered with a distinctively unhurried, melodic cadence that helped shape a strand of UK rap grounded in authenticity over flash, with tracks like «CR», «Oh My» and «Trapper of the Year» further cementing his standing in British hip hop.
