About the artist

Natasja Saad, known simply as Natasja, was a Danish reggae singer and rapper of Sudanese-Danish heritage. As a teenager she co-founded the group No Name Requested, which opened for Queen Latifah and briefly recorded for Mega Records before disbanding. After years away from music, she resurfaced in 2005 as a guest on Bikstok Røgsystem's «Cigar», reigniting her career.

Her defining work came with the album I Danmark Er Jeg Født, a Danish-language record that fused reggae and dancehall rhythms with pointed social commentary on immigration, identity, and belonging in Denmark. Tragically, Natasja died in a car accident in Jamaica in June 2007, just months before the album's release, and it became a posthumous breakthrough that cemented her as one of Denmark's most beloved reggae voices.

Her catalogue also includes the English-language album Release, aimed at Jamaican audiences, and posthumous releases such as Shooting Star and the compilation Legacy (1974-2007). Songs like «Gi' Mig Danmark Tilbage» and «Op Med Ho'det» remain staples of Danish popular music, and Natasja is remembered as a pioneering figure who bridged Caribbean reggae with Danish urban culture.
