Molo

Molotov Movement, known as Molo, is a Danish rap collective formed in 2013, bringing together rappers Gilli, Benny Jamz and the duo MellemFingaMuzik (Stepz and Branco). The members had already appeared on each other's individual releases and were close friends outside of music before formally uniting under the Molo name, positioning the group as one of the defining forces in modern Danish hip-hop.

What was originally conceived as a MellemFingaMuzik album evolved into a collaborative Molotov Movement project after studio sessions brought all the members together creatively. Rather than releasing a single body of work at once, the group rolled out a series of standalone singles between 2016 and 2017, including «Udenfor», «Nu», «Bølgen», «Skejsen», «Dedikeret» and «Stilen Lagt», each contributing to the group's growing reputation and building anticipation for a full project.

That anticipation was eventually met with the release of their EP in June 2018, a seven-track release that also included the previously leaked track «Formidable». The rollout, complicated by leaks along the way, only heightened the sense of event around the collective's music. Molo's sound reflects the individual styles of its members' respective solo careers, fusing melodic Danish rap with hard-hitting trap and street-informed songwriting, and the group's combined visibility helped push Danish-language rap further into the mainstream.
