Mister You

Mister You, born Younes Latifi in 1984 in Paris to a family of Moroccan origin, started rapping as a preteen and spent years building his name through mixtapes before breaking into the mainstream. Between 2004 and 2010 he released a string of EPs and mixtapes, sharpening a direct, streetwise style rooted in Parisian rap tradition and honest storytelling about his surroundings.

His proper studio debut, Dans ma grotte, arrived in 2011 and went platinum in France, establishing him as a commercially significant voice in French rap. He followed it with the mixtape MDR 2 and then, in 2014, Le Prince, his first release on Def Jam France, which marked a shift into a bigger institutional home for his career. In 2016 he released Le grand méchant you, a fifteen-track album notable for containing no featured guests, a deliberate statement of self-reliance.

His later work includes the Hasta la muerte series, launched in 2019, and the Les oiseaux EPs, the second of which arrived in late 2021. Across two decades Mister You has remained a consistent presence in French rap, valued for blending raw street narratives with sharp technical delivery and a willingness to release both large albums and shorter, tighter EP statements.
