Médine

Médine, born Médine Zaouiche, is a French rapper from Le Havre of Algerian descent, active since the early 2000s. He built his reputation on a distinctive gravelly voice and dense, historically and religiously referenced lyrics that tackle colonialism, Islamophobia, racism and social exclusion in France, while also turning a critical eye on the excesses within his own community. He is affiliated with the independent label Din Records and the collective La Boussole, positioning himself outside the mainstream commercial rap circuit.

His work is known for combining conscious, politically engaged content with sharp wordplay and dense metaphor, drawing on Quranic references, French history and global political struggles. Tracks such as «Grand Paris», «Don't Laïk» and «Grand Médine» have made him one of the most talked-about and controversial figures in French rap, regularly sparking public debate and media controversy over his provocative titles and imagery.
