Mad Clip

Mad Clip, born Petros Anastasopoulos, was a Greek-American rapper who became one of the most prominent figures in modern Greek hip-hop before his death in a car accident in September 2021. Born in New York, he spent his teenage years and much of his early life moving between the United States, Cyprus, and the United Kingdom before eventually settling in Greece in 2016. In his youth he was part of Outkast Excellence, an informal group alongside Constantine the G and N.O.E. that recorded and freestyled together, largely in English.

His breakthrough as a Greek-language artist came in 2016 with the single Eimai Trelos, recorded with Taki Tsan through producer Dj The Boy, launching a run of hits that fused American trap and hip-hop influences with Greek lyrics and street storytelling. Songs like Kotera, Megistanas, Montecristo, and Nani showcased his aggressive delivery and melodic hooks, helping define the sound of the new wave of Greek trap that emerged in the late 2010s.

Mad Clips international upbringing gave his music a distinct, transatlantic edge within the Greek scene, and his sudden death at the height of his popularity made him one of the most mourned figures in Greek music in recent years, with his catalogue continuing to draw large audiences posthumously.
