Mac Miller

Mac Miller, born Malcolm James McCormick on January 19, 1992, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was an American rapper, singer and producer who died on September 7, 2018. He began releasing mixtapes as a teenager in the late 2000s, and his breakthrough project K.I.D.S. established him as one of the most popular young voices to emerge from the internet-driven mixtape era, known early on for a breezy, party-friendly sound built around weed anthems and youthful energy.

Over the following decade Mac Miller became known for restlessly reinventing himself, moving from party rap into jazz-inflected hip hop, soul, and psychedelic rock textures. He produced much of his own material under the alias Larry Fisherman and worked with a wide range of collaborators across genres, developing a reputation as a genuine musician rather than a novelty rap star.
