Lil Pump, born Gazzy Garcia in Miami-Dade County, Florida, is one of the defining figures of the late-2010s SoundCloud rap wave. He began rapping as a young teenager alongside close collaborator Smokepurpp, cutting his teeth in Miami's underground scene before breaking through with tracks like «D Rose» and «Boss» in 2017.

His biggest hit, «Gucci Gang», became a global phenomenon, reaching the top of the charts and turning its minimal, repetitive hook into one of the era's most recognizable rap catchphrases. His self-titled debut album followed later that year, built around the hazy, bass-heavy, ad-lib-driven production style associated with the SoundCloud and «mumble rap» scene. He continued the momentum with singles such as «ESSKEETIT» and «I Love It», the latter a collaboration with Kanye West.
