L'Algérino

L’Algérino, born Samir Djoghlal, is a French rapper from Marseille, born on 2 May 1981. He was discovered in the early 2000s by Akhenaton of IAM, who signed him to the label 361 Records, launching a career built on a distinctive blend of French rap with Mediterranean, oriental, and pop influences.

His debut album, «Les derniers seront les premiers», came out in 2005, and he followed it with a string of releases through the 2000s and 2010s, including «Mentalité pirate», «Effet miroir» — which brought him wider recognition through the hit «Sur la tête de ma mère» — and «C’est correct». His fifth album, «Aigle royal», was released in 2014 on Gims’s label Monstre Marin Corporation, followed by the EP «Prémice» and the album «Oriental Dream», notable for «Le prince de la ville».

L’Algérino’s later work includes «Banderas» and «Intertional», the latter featuring «Va Bene», used on the soundtrack of «Taxi 5», alongside collaborations with artists such as Alonzo, Naps, Soolking, and Soprano. Rooted in Marseille’s rap scene, his music is known for catchy hooks, sunny Mediterranean textures, and crossover appeal that has made him one of the more commercially recognizable voices in French rap.
