Krept & Konan

Krept & Konan are a British hip-hop duo from South London, formed by childhood friends Casyo «Krept» Johnson and Karl «Konan» Wilson. They emerged from the UK street-rap and grime-adjacent mixtape scene, gaining recognition with their mixtape «Young Kingz», which became a landmark independent success in British hip-hop before they had a record deal.

Their breakthrough single «Don’t Waste My Time» went viral in the UK in 2014, inspiring remixes from artists including French Montana, Wretch 32, Chip and Stormzy, and cementing their reputation as leading voices in the UK rap scene. Their debut studio album, «The Long Way Home», followed in 2015, led by singles such as «Certified» featuring Rick Ross and the charting hit «Freak of the Week» featuring Jeremih, blending grime-rooted lyricism with UK R&B and pop-leaning hooks.

Krept & Konan are known for combining sharp, autobiographical street narratives with polished, radio-ready production, helping bridge the gap between the UK’s underground rap circuit and mainstream chart success, and paving the way for later waves of British hip-hop and drill artists.
