Kool G Rap

Kool G Rap, born Nathaniel Thomas Wilson in the Corona neighborhood of Queens, New York, is widely regarded as one of the most influential and technically skilled MCs in hip-hop history. He rose to prominence in the mid-1980s as a member of the Juice Crew and as one half of Kool G Rap & DJ Polo before establishing a prolific solo career.

He is frequently credited as a pioneer of mafioso and street/hardcore rap, bringing vivid, cinematic storytelling about crime and street life together with dense, multisyllabic rhyme schemes that predated and influenced generations of later rappers. Songs such as «Fast Life», «It’s A Shame», «4, 5, 6», «Executioner Style» and «Blowin’ Up in the World» showcase his intricate wordplay and narrative style across his solo catalog.
