K.O

K.O, born Ntokozo Mdluli, is a South African rapper and one of the most influential figures in the local hip-hop scene, known as an architect of the «skhanda» sound and style. He first rose to prominence as a member of the rap trio Teargas before that group disbanded, after which he launched a successful solo career under his own label, CashTime Life.

His 2014 debut solo album «Skhanda Republic» was a defining moment for South African hip-hop, blending rap with kwaito and pop sensibilities and yielding the massive hit «Caracara», which earned him Record of the Year honors and helped the album take Best Rap Album at the South African Music Awards. His work consistently fuses hard-hitting rap verses with catchy, radio-friendly hooks, drawing on township slang and local musical traditions rather than imitating American hip-hop templates.

Beyond his own catalog, K.O has become known for high-profile collaborations across South African music, and songs like «SETE» and «Skhanda Love» reflect his continued dominance in blending rap with dance and pop elements. He remains a central figure in shaping how South African hip-hop sounds and presents itself on a mainstream stage.
