About the artist
King of the Dot, often abbreviated KOTD, is a rap battle league founded in Toronto, Canada, in 2008 by its founder and host, Organik. What began as an underground event in an alleyway near the Toronto Eaton Centre grew into one of the most influential organizations in competitive battle rap, now featuring hundreds of emcees and events held across Toronto, California, Calgary, and Vancouver, with an expansion into Massachusetts in 2015.
The league has hosted and showcased numerous respected battle rappers, drawing participants not only from Canada and the United States but also from England, Scotland, Australia, Sweden, Norway, the Philippines, and South Africa, particularly through its annual World Domination event. Over the years, various established hip-hop figures have appeared as co-hosts or guests, including Drake, Raekwon, Method Man, and Sticky Fingaz, lending the league mainstream visibility beyond its battle-rap roots.
KOTD is structured around multiple tiers, including its flagship battles alongside smaller developmental leagues such as PY Battles and GZ Battles, allowing new talent to rise through the ranks. Notable battles hosted or documented under the KOTD banner include high-profile matchups such as Oxxxymiron vs. Dizaster and Canibus vs. Dizaster, and the league’s influence has extended internationally, inspiring the creation of other battle leagues such as Flip Top in the Philippines.
