Каспийский Груз (Kaspiyskiy Gruz)

Kaspiyskiy Gruz (Caspian Cargo) is a Russian-language rap duo from Azerbaijan, formed in 2000 by Ves and Brutto. For years the group worked outside the mainstream spotlight, building a cult following through an underground, slice-of-life style rooted in humor, everyday absurdity, and a distinctly southern, Caucasus-inflected sensibility rare in Russian rap.

The duo's popularity surged dramatically after the 2013 album Ringtony dlya zony and the collaborative track «Zimnyaya» with Guf and Slim, which introduced them to a much wider audience and turned them into one of the most recognizable names in Russian rap of the mid-2010s. Their sound blends conversational, storytelling verses with catchy, often melancholic or comic hooks, and songs like «Lyubov HD1080» and «Tabor ukhodit v nebo» became widely known beyond dedicated rap fans.

In 2017 Kaspiyskiy Gruz announced their breakup following the album Soundtrek k tak i ne snyatomu filmu, though they returned in 2023 with the EP Ostorozhno Okrasheno. Both members have pursued extensive solo careers—Brutto and Ves each releasing multiple solo albums—while remaining tied to the duo's legacy as one of the defining acts to bring a regional, everyman voice into Russian-language hip hop.
