Kaaris

Kaaris, born Okou Gnakouri, is a French rapper of Ivorian origin, based in Sevran in the Paris suburbs. He is widely credited, alongside artists like Booba, with helping popularize a darker, trap-influenced sound within French rap during the early 2010s. His breakthrough came with the 2013 album «Or Noir», whose aggressive delivery and street-rooted imagery set a template followed by a generation of younger rappers.

Kaaris built his reputation on a raw, confrontational vocal style delivered over heavy, bass-driven trap production, standing apart from the more melodic or lyrical strands of French rap. His association with the Sevran district and his early work with the collective Niroshima shaped an identity centered on hardship and resilience, themes that recur throughout his catalogue.
