JuL, born Julien Mari on January 14, 1990, in Marseille, France, is one of the most commercially successful French rappers of his generation. Raised in the southern districts of the city, particularly the Saint-Jean du Désert neighborhood he nicknamed «135», he began recording music as a teenager, self-producing tracks with basic software long before signing to any label. His independent, prolific approach — releasing albums at a relentless pace — became a hallmark of his career and helped him build a massive fanbase largely outside traditional media channels.

Musically, JuL blends rap with pop and R&B melodic sensibilities, often favoring catchy, autotune-inflected hooks over technical lyricism, and his Marseille roots and slang are central to his identity and image.
