Jonwayne is a rapper and producer from California known for handling both the writing and the beats on his own records, a rare combination that gives his music a distinctly cohesive feel. He first built a following through a prolific run of mixtapes released in the late 2000s, including his «From The Vault» series, which compiled tracks made across different periods of his early creative life.

His 2012 beat tape «Bowser», released on Alpha Pup Records, showed his production side in full: an instrumental project inspired by the sound and atmosphere of classic Nintendo and Super Nintendo game soundtracks, right down to its Super Mario-referencing title and cover art. It was praised for evoking that nostalgic video game feel without relying on direct samples, relying instead on original composition.

Jonwayne's biggest breakthrough came with «Rap Album One» in 2013, his first full-length to combine his own rapping with his own production, marking him as a genuine rapper-producer rather than just a beatmaker. He followed it years later with a direct sequel, «Rap Album Two». Across his catalog, tracks like «TED Talk», «Green Light», and «Afraid of Us» reflect his introspective, often self-critical lyrical style paired with dense, sample-conscious production rooted in underground West Coast hip-hop.
