Johnny Diggson

Johnny Diggson, born Christopher Steffen in 1993 in Remscheid, North Rhine-Westphalia, is a German rapper who built his reputation in the country's battle-rap scene before moving into studio releases. Alongside his childhood friend Deamon, he is part of the KRB collective (short for Kapuze und RayBan, or Hoodie and RayBan), a name that also became a recurring motif in his song titles.

He first appeared under the alias Ideal at the VBT battle tournament in 2013, then rebranded as Johnny Diggson in 2015. That year he reached the semifinals of JBB (JuliensBlogBattle), losing a contested bout to Neo Unleashed and finishing third overall — one of the more talked-about results of that JBB season. In 2016 he competed in JMC (JuliensMusicCypher) with his crew BBM (BikiniBottomMafia) and advanced to the final, ultimately losing to Gary Washington and GReeeN.

After JMC, Johnny Diggson largely stepped away from competitive battle rap to focus on his own catalog, releasing a run of singles with Deamon and building a body of work distinct from his freestyle-battle persona. His sound sits within German-language rap, shaped by the punchline-driven, combative style typical of the battle circuit he came up in, even as his later releases lean more toward conventional song structures.
